Native resolution indicates the resolution a game is rendered in before any potential upscaling. Most, if not all, PS4 and Xbox One games output at 1080p, but some might not have a native 1080p resolution, which have the potential to run into FPS issues..

This chart is a work in progress; very few companies have gone on record stating the native resolutions of their Xbox One and PS4 games. If you have information to add to this chart in alphabetical order, please make sure it's properly cited. BEWARE OF FALSE INFORMATION! This page can be edited by anyone with an IGN account. So therefore the information you are seeing is most likely incorrect.

Skylanders Giants joins Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Toki Tori 2 as games 100 percent confirmed to display in 1080p on Wii U. Nintendo has said that all launch first-party Wii U titles will run in 720p.

It's likely not native 1080p on the PS3 or XBOX360, but it could be upscaled (This is based on historical facts as there are very few native 1080p games on those systems, I have not heard anything about it yet). I am looking forward to ZombiU's native 1080p, built from the ground up specifically for the Wii U. It looks rather impressive.

Paleselan, developers can do more graphical tricks and put more on the screen at 720p with less effort. I'm guessing as people start mastering the Wii U hardware they will be able to do 1080p more often.

Considering that the number of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games that are actually 1080p (and not just upscaled) is less than 10%, it's noteworty.paleselan, the higher the resolution the more processing power the game requires (and thus can do less in other areas).

120/240Hz LCD and LED TV's tout their ability to cut down on motion lag but this form of picture processing doesn't work well with gaming in the TVs we tested, especially with first person shooters such as Call of Duty Black Ops and Battlefield 3. It adds strange artifacts and a screen tearing effect and is much more distracting than the small bouts of motion lag associated with having it off. This is personal preference and won't be a problem with a plasma but we recommend not using this feature with video games.

The best OLED TV has almost non-existent motion blur and perfect contrast to enhance games. Input lag logged in at 21ms - the best performance we have had from an OLED TV. This is an all-around fantastic TV if you can afford it.

Enabling the Game Mode for gaming is a must for competitive shooters and action gamers. The input lag went from a noticable 120ms down to 30ms with the flick of a switch. That really makes games like Battlefield and Titalfall much more enjoyable and immersive. It's good to know that the first time you turn on Game Mode the picture won't look so good. That's because it has its own picture settings, so take a moment to get the picture looking good again the first time you do it.

The Vizio E500i-B1 has a dedicated picture mode for gaming. This is for optimal performance when it comes to input lag. The TV responds fairly well in our tests. We measured input lag at 40ms. That's not too bad at all for the average to hardcore console gamer. Shooters, racing, and action games play just fine on this TV. 30ms and below are considered excellent measurements, so this Vizio stands with the best of them.

The TV has a Game mode located in the advanced picture settings. It's a good idea to turn it on for action games and shooters. Otherwise there will be a noticeable amount of input lag. There was a bit of judder in the Game mode, but that didn't take away from the experience. The Motion Smoother setting helps with the judder, but has to be disabled when the Game mode is running.

When 2 people play a game in the same room on the same TV they are oftne forced to use split screen, the TV screen is split in half horizontally or vertically and each player not only gets a smaller view of the game, sometimes important screen area is cut off. The 47LM6700's Dual Play technology utilizes the Cinema 3D to display both screens at the same time on the whole screen. See our review of the LG 47LM600LG 42LM6200 Review 41" LCD TV 1080p

If you want to go large but still keep it under $2000, try the new Panasonic TC-P60ST60 60" plasma. It does not have the upgraded 2500 focus field drive like the GT50 but nevertheless will display your gaming material without flaw and without any motion blur. Contrast is exceptional. The 32L4200U is only 32" in screen size but has vibrant LED backlighting and a new sound package that sound very good. Resolution is also 1080p, much better for video games than the 720p found on most 32" TVs. Best of all the price is still super reasonable at $349. The UN55D7000 uses a 1080p, 240Hz LCD panel with LED edge lighting, the edge lighting is capable of local dimming for increased contrast in dark scenes and better contrast than LED or LCD televisions with constant back lighting.

The Wii U (Japanese: ウィーユー Wii U) is Nintendo's home game console for the eighth generation of video games, which serves as one of the company's competitions for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, the other being the Nintendo Switch.

First officially announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 of 2011, the Wii U (previously referred to as Project Café) is the successor of the Wii and is backwards-compatible to all Wii games and controllers. The console features a 6.2-inch touch screen-capable controller equipped with a camera, called the Wii U GamePad. In addition, the console is capable of playing games at 1080p with a 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio. Its handheld counterpart is the Nintendo 3DS.

While Call of Duty: Ghosts may run at 60 frames per second while achieving a 1080p resolution on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Rubin also stresses the importance that the studio places on factors like intelligent AI.

All that glistens is not necessarily Nintendo, it seems, after news has broken that gameplay footage shown during its Wii U announcement was actually from Xbox 360 and PS3 games, rather than clips rendered by the new hardware.

But during a post-presentation interview with GameTrailers, Nintendo US CEO Reggie Fils-Aime let the cat out of the bag, saying the reel of games on show were not actually from the Wii U. Asked if they were from PS3 or Xbox 360 versions, he responded:

When queried if the system will be as good as its competitors, Fils-Aime provided a cloudy answer, highlighting the console's 1080p output and saying how the games look will be in the hands of developers.

Yes, it's been an insanely busy year, what with all the rumours about how many Nega-Flops AMD's tactical nuclear chip-sets are capable of, and how many clouds you can fit into a single internet pipe. Analysts, desperate to raise the profile of their firms plucked numbers from arse in a bid to whip gamers into a frenzy of gen-war squabbling, leading them to flog one another with flails made from frame-rate statistics. The term '1080p' was initiated into the Oxford Dictionary by Britain's brightest literary agents, along with the description, 'who the fuck cares?' I hear the post-ceremony buffet was excellent, but a little fuzzy. 2ff7e9595c
